Nursery and Preschool
9 months – 5 years
A child who feels loved, safe and happy, is able to learn and flourish.
Experience the magic of our nurturing preschool learning community where curiosity and a love of learning bloom.
Our Preschool at Broadacres Academy welcomes children from the age of 9 months up to 5 years. We foster an exceptional learning environment that encourages exploration and natural, age-appropriate development. Our team of passionate and dedicated teachers’ primary aim is to ensure that each child is loved, happy and thriving in a relaxed learning environment.
Our little ones flourish in our community where parents and school become family. Open communication and giving and receiving consistent feedback help to form strong relationships with all our parents.
Just like a loving home, the Preschool learning community is a safe, nurturing, happy space for each child who attends our beautiful school. We pride ourselves in the love that children experience when they are in our care.
Broadacres Academy is enriched with character, space, love, and an all over magical feeling.
Our campus exudes the welcoming atmosphere and essence of the original farm school that served the community for 35 years. The children absolutely love going for farm walks, learning about our environment, and feeding our farm animals.
Enrich their school day with fun.
Nurture a happy, confident child.
Develop a natural love of learning.
Our Learning Philosophy
At Broadacres Academy Preschool, our children are given every opportunity to learn through exploration and discovery. They are guided in diverse daily activities by their experienced and caring teachers. We believe that self-directed learning encourages children to become lifelong learners who never lose their natural love of learning.
You’ll hear happy chatter and fun emanating from our preschool throughout the day as our little ones enjoy messy play, exploring different textures, art activities, music and dance, puzzles, stories, outdoor gross motor activities, and so much more.
We believe that learning is a journey of exploration,
A collaboration between learner and teacher,
Inspired by curiosity,
Guided by professional insight and commitment,
Grounded in community values,
And focused on the natural development of each child’s potential.
Welcome to Broadacres Nursery and Preschool – where children learn, naturally.
Our Preschool is set in amongst the most beautiful surroundings. We have 12 gorgeous, well-sized moveable learning spaces that can accommodate up to 20 children. Each teacher in the junior side of our preschool (9 months up to 3 years) has been appointed a wonderful and caring assistant who assists the teacher in giving every child the attention that they need.
Our Key to Learning curriculum allows great opportunity for play-based learning which is the best way for a preschool child to learn. It allows children to be actively engaged in the learning process and it is our aim to ensure that every preschool child’s foundation is built to the best of their ability.
Our beautiful playgrounds are filled with a variety of age-appropriate equipment such as jungle gyms, bike tracks, mud kitchens and my personal favourite. the animal pens. The children can view the animals throughout the day, and they participate in a farm walk with their teachers as often as possible. During the farm walk they get to feed the tortoise, rabbits and horses.
In the Preschool our children get the opportunity to have a pony ride once a week (2 years and up). This is not forced but is a great exercise in developing self-confidence. Our 4 and 5-year-olds also get the opportunity to visit our school library once a week and there is always much excitement when they get to take a new book home. This teaches the children responsibility as well as creates an opportunity for a new bedtime story.
Each class from our 2–3-year-olds receive one half-hour Buzzi Body lesson per week. Buzzi Bodies is an outsourced company that work on the children’s gross motor skills. This is half an hour that the children cannot wait for each week.
Broadacres Nursery and Preschool is where magic happens. The smiles and laughing sounds that echo through the school is a pure sign of just that. I believe that, if a child truly feels loved, they will be confident enough to explore outside of their comfort zone and this will lead to incredible learning in and out of the classroom.
It is my responsibility to ensure that every parent has peace of mind when leaving their children in our care during the day. I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into our Broadacres family!
The Broadacres Academy Preschool follows the ISASA guidelines to the Early Childhood Development (ECD) curriculum. This ensures that the correct developmental milestones are reached. In Grade 000 and 00, we expand on the ECD Curriculum by including modules from the Key to Learning programme. In the 4 and 5-year-old classes, Logic, Story Grammar, Maths and Visual Spatial modules form part of the Preschool Curriculum.
Key to Learning is a unique educational programme that was developed out of the latest worldwide research into children’s learning, and based on the ideas from learning theorist, Vygotsky. Vygotsky’s learning theories on constructivism underpin our teaching philosophy of natural learning, and inspired our “learning, naturally” slogan.
The Key to Learning curriculum differs from conventional approaches because it creates the conditions for minds to open, for learning to be pleasurable and for creativity to flourish. You can learn more about the Key to Learning Curriculum here.
Broadacres Academy Nursery and Preschool promotes the development of Arts and Culture in our children. They love performing on stage and we give them every opportunity to do so.
There is always time for creative activity. The children love painting, drawing, singing, dancing and playing instruments. We expose the children to the Colourstrings Music Programme.
These activities create a diverse, holistic curriculum in which all aspects of the child are developed.
